Пишет Чацкий:I just want everyone to make good stuff
you'll never know how many people think they can write (and they can't) until you start reading fanfiction - neither you'll know how many amazingly talented people are out there, producing beautiful works.
the point is, they'll never make it to the book stores.
this is one of the tricky things about fanfiction: you may be good at it, you may be known and admired for it, but doing only fanfiction is nothing but digging your own grave.
it's okay if the only thing you want is to contribute to community. or if it's for the characters. or if you think that this is a way of showing the author how much you love his or her story, manga, tv-show or whatever (there are many other ways). you can come up with dozens of reasons, really. if all that works for you, if what you want lies within those reasons - keep doing that.
if it doesn't, you should stop doing what you're doing as soon as possible.
fanfiction is fun, but sadly enough it does not give you an opportunity to do what you really want to do. fanfiction is a great tool indeed - it helps you to improve your skills, it helps you to understand what an average reader wants, how that all works, for God's sake, it helps you to understand what you want from yourself and from your stories and characters. yep, fanfiction, that nice little guy, does all that. but one day you'll find yourself writing the same things over and over again - 'cause that's all a fanfiction writer ever amounts to. be wiser, go deeper, do whatever it takes, because fanfiction is certainly not your dream.
